Privacy Policy

Overview

MyGluco is an app operated by MyGluco LLC ("MyGluco", "we", "our"). It helps people with diabetes and glucose-conscious eaters make informed choices at restaurants. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who else processes it, and the choices you have.

The same policy is available inside the app at Profile → Privacy Policy.

Health information

Some of what you give us is health information, and we treat it as the most sensitive data in the app. That includes your diabetes type, carb sensitivity, target glucose range, health goals and any allergies you enter, any body details you enter (such as weight), plus the menu scans and meals you log.

We do not sell it. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with data brokers. It is used to personalise your scores and recommendations, to show you your own history, and to produce the reports you ask for.

MyGluco does not connect to a continuous glucose monitor, does not measure your blood glucose, and does not read from Apple Health.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address, used to sign you in.
  • Diabetes profile — diabetes type, carb sensitivity, target glucose range, goals and allergies, entered during onboarding or in Edit Profile.
  • Body details, optional — sex, birth year, height, weight, activity level and weight-loss pace, if you enter them. Used only to work out your daily calorie and protein targets.
  • Menu scans — photos of menus you choose to scan, the resulting analysis, and the restaurant name.
  • Meals you log — the items you mark as ordered, photos of your meals and of nutrition labels, foods you type, and barcodes you scan, with their estimated nutrition.
  • Ratings — any 1–5 star ratings you give menu items.
  • Conversations with Glu — messages you send to the in-app assistant.
  • Location, only if you allow it — when you use Near Me, your approximate location is sent to look up restaurants nearby. It is used for that request and then discarded. We do not store your coordinates and we do not keep a history of where you have been. Near Me is optional; typing a restaurant and city works the same.
  • Usage and diagnostics — first-party analytics events and error reports, used to fix bugs. Never sold, never shared with advertisers.
  • Push token, if you allow notifications. Removed when you sign out or delete your account.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

ProviderWhat it receivesWhy
SupabaseYour account, profile, scans, logged meals, ratings Database and authentication. Row-level security means your data is readable only by you, and by an advisor you explicitly accepted.
OpenAIOnly with your permission: menu, meal and label photos, restaurant names and foods you type; your message to Glu, plus profile context such as diabetes type, goals, allergies and recent meals. Never your name, email or password. Generates the nutrition estimate or the reply. Not used to train OpenAI's models, under OpenAI's API terms.
Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData CentralA barcode number or food name, with nothing about you Looks up packaged-food and reference nutrition.
Apple MapsYour approximate coordinates, only when you use Near Me Returns nearby restaurants. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
RevenueCatA pseudonymous app user ID and your subscription status Manages subscriptions and validates purchases. It does not receive your health profile, scans or meals.
ApplePayment details, if you subscribe All billing is handled by Apple. We never see your card details.

AI processing

MyGluco asks your permission before anything is sent to OpenAI, and you can withdraw it anytime in the app at Profile → AI data sharing.

With your permission, when you scan a menu, log food from a photo, label or description, or message Glu, that photo or text is sent to OpenAI's API to produce the estimate or reply. Results are AI-assisted estimates for information only — see "Your Data & AI" in the app for the limits of AI-generated nutrition data.

Glu will not answer questions about insulin dosing, correction factors, carb ratios or medication, and messages are screened before they reach the model.

Family & Advisors sharing

If you invite someone as an advisor, they can view your menu scan history and glucose-impact scores once they accept. You control who has access and can revoke it at any time from Profile → Family & Advisors. Advisors cannot see your account, diabetes profile or allergies, and cannot make changes on your behalf.

Storage and security

Data is stored with Supabase and encrypted in transit, with row-level security so your records are readable only by you. No system is completely secure, but we do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile from Edit Profile, delete individual scans or your whole history from the History tab, and permanently delete your account and everything attached to it from Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible. To ask what we hold about you, email us.

Children's privacy

MyGluco is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we collect or use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
